FAQ's
How do I sign my kids up?
Registration will open on April 15th each year. Payment is due during the first week of practice.
When does the season start?
Our first day of practice is the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
When does each age group practice?
We practice Monday- Thursday.
5-8 year olds 5:00-6:00 pm
9-12 year olds 6:00-7:00 pm
13-18 year olds 7:00-8:00 pm
What is the swimming requirement for 5/6 year olds?
5- and 6-year-olds must be able to swim 12 yards (half the length of the pool) alone, without assistance from a person or lane line.
What is the swim meet schedule?
Our swim meet schedule is already posted to the website under the “schedule” tab.
What is the attendance policy?
We do not take attendance and do not have an attendance policy. Your swimmer(s) will get more out of it the more they attend practice. We understand that families plan vacations and have other camps during the summer, so no need to worry about missing some practices.
My child is 4 years old and has swum on a team before. Can they swim with the Stingrays this year?
Your child must be 5 years old by June 1st to swim on the team. This has been a requirement for many years, and we do not make any exceptions.
Can my 3 kids swim in the same practice?
This can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We always recommend that your kids swim in their designated practice, to ensure they are swimming at the same level as peers their age and so they can make friends their age as well. We will try our best to accommodate you, but please understand that it’s not always possible.
What should we bring for the first day of swim practice?
Goggles, pool towel, flip-flops/sandals/crocs, water, registration dues, chair for parents.
Is buying a team suit required?
Purchasing the team suit is not required, but highly recommended. If you choose not to buy the team suit, please try and find an all black suit to wear at meets. No requirement for practice suits.
How can I stay up-to-date on information?
Please follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with all information. Parents will also be required to sign up for Remind, a free app that allows us to send text messages in real time.
My ___-year-old doesn’t know all 4 strokes. Can they still swim?
Yes, as long as your swimmer can swim basic freestyle (doesn’t have to be perfect), then they are welcome to join our team. We will work all season to improve swimming in all 4 strokes.
Are younger siblings allowed to swim in the shallow end during practices?
NO, we do not allow siblings to swim in the shallow end at any time during the season. Only swimmers who are on the team are allowed in the water, due to liability and safety reasons.
Is your team competitive, and is it okay for beginners to join?
We, of course, love to win but all we want from our swimmers is for them to do their best! We have a wide range of swimmers on the team, from beginners to future D1 prospects.
What are the volunteer requirements?
Each family is required to volunteer during at least 2 swim meets. If you would like to opt out of this, you will be required to pay $50. We are a team that functions off of volunteer help, so the more help we have, the more efficiently swim meets will run.
