GO STINGRAYS!
STINGRAYS FINISH 3RD AT 2025 WSL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Stingrays began the WSL Championships in 8th place on Sunday, powered by a strong opening session from our 6 & Unders. Momentum continued to build as our determined 7–8 age group gave it everything they had, lifting us into 6th place. Later that day, our 9–10 swimmers held their ground in the largest session of the meet, keeping the Stingrays steady in 6th.
Monday brought a turning point. Our 11–12 group delivered an incredible performance that bumped us up to 5th place overall. Then, our 13–18 swimmers entered with focus and fire, determined to make a statement. Their outstanding effort propelled the Stingrays to an impressive 3rd place overall finish at the WSL Championships!
Congratulations to all our swimmers on an incredible season! We’re proud
of every one of you.

Thank you for all your help coaching our swimmers this summer and your dedication to the Stingrays!
Stingrays Fall to 4-1
The Stingrays fought a hard fight against the YWCA Barracuda "Black" Team on Monday night but came up short with a 309-266 loss. The Barracudas continued their dominance in the WSL, but we gave them their closest meet this season. The Stingrays will be going to the WSL Champs at Cape Fear Country Club on July 20-21 with anticipation of a solid finish to the 2025 summer season. We've had 171 swimmers giving their all for the last 7 weeks. Coaches Claudia, Lexi, and I couldn't be prouder of the team!
Stingrays 4-0
The Stingrays had a wonderful outing at the Country Club of Landfall on July 8th vs. the Landfall Lazers and the Covil Estate Crocs. The Stingrays were down in the first half and came storming back in the second half of the meet to get the win.
Stingrays 357
Crocs 211
Lazers 154
Let's Go Stingrays!!
Stingrays Move to 3-0
The Stingrays earned a strong 179-74 victory over the YWCA Orange team in a weather-shortened meet Wednesday night. The team made it nearly through the freestyle events before lightning brought the evening to an early end at Legion Stadium. Despite the clouds, the races were exciting and the atmosphere was full of energy. The Stingrays have no meets next week and will return to the pool on July 8 at the Country Club of Landfall.
Stingrays Finish Close 2nd at WSL Relay Meet
Monday night was a fun and competitive evening at Cape Fear Country Club. The Top 8 teams competed in 28 relays which were close and very exciting! Our Stingrays did their best and placed in the Top 3 in almost all relays and placing the highest ever at the Relay Meet. Great job Stingrays! The results are as following:
YWCA : 181
WSST : 178

Stingrays Get To 2-0
On Wednesday the 18th, the Stingrays hosted the CFCC Sharks at Legion Stadium. It was hot inside and outside the pool. We had many exciting and close heats all the way to the end. The lead went back and forth all evening with the Stingrays pulling out a 292-273 win.
The Stingrays will swim 2 times next week; Monday at CFCC for the WSL Relay Meet and again on Wednesday against the YWCA.
Stingrays Start 2025 Summer 1-0
On Tuesday evening, the Stingrays edged out the YMCA Narwhals 281-273 in a thrilling meet that had fans on the edge of their seats. The lead changed hands throughout the night, with swimmers from both teams notching personal bests and several races decided by photo finish. It was an unforgettable evening of competition that swimmers and parents alike thoroughly enjoyed!
Home of the Wilmington Stingrays
The Stingrays Swim Team is a summer club that offers a competitive swim program—not swim lessons or a camp. To join, your child must be able to continuously swim one full length of a regulation-size pool using any legal stroke. For swimmers aged 6 and under, the requirement is a half-length (12 yards).
During the first week of practice only, our coaching staff will work with beginner swimmers to help them meet this standard.
We’re committed to creating a positive, healthy environment where kids learn to work hard, support one another, and grow through teamwork. We encourage every swimmer to always do their best, act responsibly, and treat each other with respect.
2024 WSL CHAMPIONSHIPS 4TH PLACE
We fought hard and our swimmers did their best! We finished with 47 medal winners and 96 Top16 ribbon winners over the 2 days of the WSL Championships. The 2024 Wilmington Stingrays had an awesome season and welcomed 58 new swimmers who will always be Stingrays!
Congratulations to our lifetime swimmer, Gabby Hutko, for being awarded the 2024 Marsha Pollard Memorial Scholarship! This is awarded by a vote from the league coaches from all the entries of Senior applications. Only one girl and one boy can be awarded this outstanding award.
Year Round Swimming Option
Are you looking for a year round swim program to join? Wilmington has a few options to choose from to accommodate you. The Stingrays are proud to recommend the NSEA Swim program for your year round needs. We have had many of their families join our summer team and they fall into the same mold we represent.
The NSEA Swim program coincides with the same mission The Wilmington Stingrays have been promoting for the last 30+ years with the exception they do it year round. If you are looking to have your swimmers join a year round program, check them out!
Stingrays 3-1 after win at Porters Neck Pirates
It was a HOT night at Porters Neck on Tuesday. Our Stingrays put forth a wonderful effort against the Pirates and the Crocs. The Stingrays won 333.5 to 184.5 for the Crocs, and 176 for the Pirates. It was a great meet other than the heat. Thanks to PNCC for putting it on!
Stingrays Finish 2nd at the WSL Relay Meet
Our Stingrays had an awesome night at Cape Fear Country Club finishing 2nd overall while having tons of fun. We took 48 swimmers, many first time attendees. Thanks to Cape Fear CC for hosting a fun night! Finish results posted on the right.
Stingrays start off 1-0
The Stingrays started off the 2024 summer season with a 307-230 win versus the Marsh Oaks Makos last night at Legion Stadium. We had some wonderful swims despite the condition of the pool. We are very proud of how all our new swimmers handled the moment and our veteran swimmers who pulled us through. Thanks to all our parents for supporting the team through concessions and volunteering during the meet we couldnt do it without you!
